The Cinque Terre, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, in among the most popular tourist areas of Italy.

The cinque terre is a national park formed by 5 villages at the top of mountain slopes facing the sea, in the province of La Spezia (Liguria).

The five villages are:

  • Monterosso al Mare
  • Vernazza
  • Corniglia
  • Manarola
  • Riomaggiore

One of the most suggested path is that one starting near the town of Spezia that connects the five villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso.

This is a pleasant walk in the mild Mediterranean climate.

How to get there and move around

  • By plane - The closest airports are at Pisa and Genova.
  • By train - Local trains from Genoa and La Spezia connect regularly the Cinque Terre villages. The towns are also connected by rail and each of the villages has a train station.
  • By car - Take the 'litoranea' road from La Spezia. We suggest to leave your vehicle in La Spezia and take the train to the Cinque Terre.
